BioShell advances bag protection through a unique suspension design. Bags are enveloped tightly in a durable film that suspends products within a polycarbonate shell. The suspension film absorbs shocks during impact allowing bags to move within a cushion of air. This prevents damage by eliminating contact with the shell.


BioShell allows for exceptional versatility. Varying sized bags – at any fill level – can be loaded into the same shell without compromising security. The shell can be used as a process tray for liquid biopharmaceutical bags as well as for freezing, thawing, storage and transportation. And the stackable design increases efficiency and reduces wasted space.

Freeze Thaw Test

Bench Drop

Simulates an accidental drop of a BioShell. The BioShell was removed from the freezer and immediately from from a height of 36" onto a concrete floor.

The following tests were performed by placing a BioShell unit at -70°C, complete with a filled bag, inside a palletized BioShell insulated shipper. The tests were performed according to ISTA 2A configurations

ISTA 2A Test


The CryoShell insulated shipper is designed to keep BioShells, other bioprocess bag container systems, or any temperature sensitive pharmaceuticals frozen during transportation.

The insulated shipper consists of an outer box containing high-performance insulation foam panels combined with specialty film. The foam and film combination improves insulating properties as well as providing a longer lasting, cleanable surface.

A tray that holds dry ice or phase-change materials is added to the insulated shipper to achieve the proper temperatures during transport. The contents within the shipper can be stored as low as -80°C.

CryoShell has passed the ISTA 7D summer ambient temperature profile and the ISTA 2B shipping standard.
